Time Freezer Script

Time Freezer for Portal HL2 EP1 & EP2 and also GMod.

//Made by Jarppi'
alias slomo "ai_disable;Host_timescale 0.8; Phys_timescale 0; mat_yuv 1; play ambient\alarms\warningbell1.wav"
alias slomooff "ai_disable;Host_timescale 1; Phys_timescale 1; mat_yuv 0"

bind "mouse3" "slomo"
bind "alt" "slomooff"
//you can change the binds to any key you like

echo "MOUSE3 SLOWMOTION ON"
echo "ALT SLOWMOTION OFF"

Made by me aka Jarppi' -This just has less options (like slowmotion etc.) and has only one option to freeze time. I watched the -Trase-'s video (who created the original script on youtube -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jASVhGKMiXU ), then learned to do this. (and I found that video by looking the HL2 "Time Stop v2" readme) In HL2 the time freezes (ai and physics) but when you kill someone the body will fall like normally. The first versions didn't work with HL2, sometimes there is problems when pressing the MOUSE3 to turn off this when it's binded to turn it on, then just press ALT and it should work normally (if you pressed M3 to switch off, then screen is normal colored but you can see the "ai disabled" text as you can see on that video).

  1. Copy the script code
  2. Go to notepad and paste it there
  3. Save as timestopper.cfg -save the file into CFG folder, for example:

GMod: C:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/[STEAM USERNAME]/garrysmod/garrysmod/cfg

PORTAL .../steamapps/[STEAM USERNAME]/portal/portal/cfg

Half-Life 2: .../steamapps/[STEAM USERNAME]/half-life2/hl2/cfg

HL2 EP1: .../steamapps/[STEAM USERNAME]/half-life 2 episode one/episodic/cfg

HL2 EP2 .../steamapps/[STEAM USERNAME]/half-life 2 episode two/ep2/cfg

  1. After saving the .cfg file to cfg folder go to the game
  2. Open console and type: exec timestopper
  3. In-game press mouse3 (mouse wheel) to turn on the freeze and ALT to turn off

!!Doesn't work in multiplayer, requires sv_cheats turned on!!

Got bored so I gave this a try, it was pretty fun surprisingly, just wish I could move objects while its frozen but that would detract from the whole time freeze thing.

Edited it for myself though, made it with 1 toggle key, nice config though thanks.

Pros: It works great. Time "freezes", AI does nothing, objects don't move and a gray screen for added effect. Cons: If you press the same key twice accidentally, it will keep the same ai setting. And bullets will be shot when you "freeze" time. Improvements: None that I can think of that wouldn't require a reworking of the engine. Notes: I would recommend a bullet-time script to go with this as a user, it really adds to in my opinion.

    Fires, fun stuff.
